AAROI-EMAC
ASSOCIAZIONE ANESTESISTI RIANIMATORI OSPEDALIERI ITALIANI EMERGENZA E AREA CRITICA
The AAROI-EMAC (Association of Hospital Anaesthesiologists and Physicians of Intensive Care - Emergency Critical Area) is an important trade union, which aims to safeguard the work of the “front line” physicians. It deals with the training and the scientific updating of its members, in order to improve the quality and the safety of the cares.
The trade union was founded in 1952, when the Italian Anaesthesiology, from being a simple surgical branch, officially became a medical specialisation.
In the 1960s, with the launch of the first intensive care unit, AAROI became to promote the merging of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care in a single specialization.
Since May 2009, the Association started to include other “front line” Emergency and Critical physicians, like First Aid physicians.
AAROI-EMAC has always supported the research projects carried on by Scientific Societies of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, a service to all patients in the most severe clinical conditions.
